CORONAVIRUS CRISIS UPDATE – CAR PARKS ARE NOW OPEN IN CHOPWELL WOOD. PLEASE OBSERVE SOCIAL DISTANCING AND STAY SAFE. IF THE CAR PARKS BECOME OVERCROWDED, THEN THEY MAY HAVE TO CLOSE AGAIN.
ALL EVENTS, MEETINGS & VOLUNTEERING ARE POSTPONED DUE TO THE CORONAVIRUS CRISIS.
More than 200,000 people visit Chopwell Wood each year: horse riders, walkers, cyclists and more. This inevitably brings potential for conflict, but the Friends encourage sensitive use by all visitors. We’ve delivered many projects to improve access and keep the Wood a welcoming and harmonious place:
- The Easy Access Trail for our less able visitors
- Installation of picnic tables and seating
- The car park extension
- Information boards, posters and leaflets to help you get the most out of your visit
We also run a lively events programme throughout the year, bringing experts into the Wood to share their enthusiasm and knowledge. Our Bat Walk and Fungal Foray are ever-popular, and we’ve recently brought WoodFest to Chopwell Wood, in partnership with Land of Oak and Iron. We can only run these events with your support, and coming along is one way to help fund our work.
