Plenty going on this year!  Here’s a few of the events we’ve got coming up.

Volunteering Wednesdays

2nd & 4th  Wednesdays, 10am

Our dedicated volunteers meet on a Wednesday morning at the Forest Classroom to carry out conservation and maintenance tasks in the Wood, in partnership with the Forestry Commission. New helpers are always welcome on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month. Please email for more details.
Woodland Spring Clean

Sun 22 April, 11am

Do your bit to help keep Chopwell Wood looking tip top!  Pop along between 11am and 2pm, for as long as you can spare. Meet in the main car park and we’ll provide the gloves, bags and litter pickers. There’ll be a catering van in the car park and Spring Clean helpers will get complimentary refreshments.  See you there!

Sun 8 July

After last year’s success, WoodFest will be back again this year, filling the Wood with crafts, entertainment and other delights.  Pay on the day –  £2 for adults and free for children; car parking £5 for the day.
Bat Walk

Bat expert Joe Shipley will be back again this year to take you on a dusk discovery of the bats in Chopwell Wood.  Pre-booking essential.  Adults £5, children £2.50.  Meet in the layby on the A694 at Lintzford.   Please bring a torch and wear warm clothing as the evenings can get chilly.

Chopwell Christmas Experience

From 30 November

Our renowned Christmas tree sales will be back again this year with a fantastic range of British-grown, forest-fresh trees on sale in the magical setting of Chopwell Wood. As well as trees there’ll be plenty of festive fun for all the family.

It’s a bit early to be talking about Christmas so watch out for more details in the coming months!

Our events programme is subject to change but all details will be posted here and on our Facebook page.
