Preventing Forest Fires
The hot, dry weather is set to continue and these conditions mean it doesn’t take much for a fire to start. Just one match, cigarette or BBQ can cause a fire and massive devastation. Please take extra care in the Wood, and encourage others to do the same, by extinguishing and disposing of cigarettes, or not smoking at all. Note that the use of BBQs is banned in the woodland.
If you discover a forest fire, ring 999 immediately and ask for the Fire & Rescue Service. Give the exact location of the fire, and wait somewhere safe, if you can, to show the fire service where the fire is. If you see anyone attempting to light a fire – call the Police.
